Bloom Academy Charter School exists to provide a high quality, rigorous, and joyful educational experience to students in grades kindergarten to fifth grade. We are a new and independent school seeking to add deeply mission aligned, smart, hardworking, and emotionally intelligent people to our founding staff. We opened August 2019 with a cohort of kindergarten and first graders and will serve scholars in grades K-4 the 22-23 school year. We will continue to add a grade level every year until we reach the fifth grade.

Bloom Academy Founding Facilities Manager

The Founding Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining the operational integrity of our school by ensuring that we are complying with all local, state, and federal regulations. This role is integral in allowing Bloom Academy to provide a rigorous learning environment in relentless pursuit of our mission.

The Founding Facilities Manager will have the following key responsibilities:

Facilities

  • Weekly collaboration with Head of School and Director of Operations for the purpose of the effective implementation of maintenance and event planning
  • Meet daily with Food Service team regarding kitchen equipment and maintenance needs
  • Perform daily repairs and general cleanup as needed
  • Review and coordinate requests for building or room usage
  • Perform set up and take down for school events/performances and programs ensuring the space is restored for next intended purpose
  • Facilitator for all local/state/federal regulatory documents and primary record keeper of facility compliance
  • Serves as primary point of contact for annual facilities inspections
  • Direct traffic flow for arriving student carpool and dismissal
  • Oversee and direct projects, site repairs/construction, and preventive/daily maintenance for the intended purpose of ensuring completion within established time frames, approved design and budget
  • Coordinate and plan summer maintenance in conjunction with Director of Operations, to ensure educational facility receives appropriate cleaning, painting, and repairs

Safety Coordinator

  • Oversee building cameras and security system
  • Identify, anticipate, and oversee safety and security violations, breeches, and visitor profiles
  • Prepare and maintain school’s Emergency Preparedness Plan (e.g., communication tree, fire, severe weather, shelter-in-place, evacuation, etc.), yearly
  • Facilitate faculty/staff training for all Emergency Preparedness, yearly
  • Conduct monthly fire drills and seasonal drills (e.g., sever weather, evacuation, shelter-in-place)
  • Act as a liaison with local authorities during extreme criminal activity and offenses that are detrimental to student and staff safety
  • Record and maintain compliance binder reporting per local, state, federal mandates (e.g., licensing)

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school campus
  • Deep alignment with school’s mission and core values
  • High school diploma or GED certification, required
  • A staunch belief that all students regardless of race or socio-economic status can achieve at high levels and be positive contributors to their communities
  • A successful background check in compliance with state law
  • Strong written and verbal communication and computation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with all school stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
